I’m going to use this word because of my job.
Most of y’all know I do security at a nursing home/retiring center in St.Pete Fl. It’s sad to watch the resident’s memory’s fade away and when that happens, they are all put on the 2nd floor in the midrise building which is not a bad area. Just easy to watch them.
It’s even sadder when you have a conversation with them and they don’t remember your name even though they say it every time when you see them. Or when you patrolling the property and you notice a resident walking to the dining room and it’s close. They always say that I was late or lost track of time but you know deep down inside you know they didn’t remember eating 3 to 4 hours ago because you were the one who took them home earlier.
When I think of it. It makes me sad but the residents don’t let that slow them down. They still have fun playing cards games that they relearn every day, they still talk to you even though they going to forget less than 2 or 3 minutes, they still tell you old stories from the old days like the 40s or 30s and etc which is cool.
One thing I can say that I also learn from them. Even when your memories are fading away doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your life and I like that about them because they always fill with life.
I Hope you’re having a great Friday morning so far and if you have to work I wish you a fast shift and I also wish you a good day!

You have a very kind heart. That was a very nice thing too share, reminding us that we will all be there someday.
